What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

Contact enquiry forms

If you submit any data via our website enquiry form(s), it will be stored in a database and also sent by email to website administrators. The visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string will also be captured to help spam detection.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor is viewing the content directly from the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics, a service which transmits website traffic data to Google servers in the United States. Google Analytics does not identify individual users or associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. We use reports provided by Google Analytics to help us understand website traffic and webpage usage.

By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner described in Google’s Privacy Policy and for the purposes set out above. You can opt out of Google Analytics if you disable or refuse cookies, disable JavaScript, or use the opt-out service provided by Google.

Server Logs

Like most website operators we collect non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request, in order to better understanding how visitors use our website, maintain security and to troubleshoot technical issues.

Our website also logs potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for the purposes of ensuring website performance and security. We do not use such information to identify visitors, however, and will not disclose such information unless required to do so by law.

Your contact information

Your contact details will only be used to contact you in relation to the service for which you provided them.

If you have purchased a product then we may contact you in relation to your purchase.

If you subscribed to our newsletter then we may send you one or more newsletters. You may change your mind at any time and unsubscribe via the link found at the bottom of every newsletter.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Information entered into contact/enquiry forms may be kept for future reference but any personal data submitted in this way will be removed upon request by the website user for whom it relates.

For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments and enquiry form data may be scanned using a third party automated spam detection service.

How we protect your data

Protection of your information is of the utmost importance to us. Certain electronic and managerial procedures have been put in place to safeguard and secure the data we collect. Whilst we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted to our site.
